In Eritrea, seven pastors have been detained in prison for more than 20 years without charges or legal proceedings. The Christian charity Open Doors points to this on the occasion of today's UN Memorial Day for the victims of acts of violence based on religion or belief. The only offense of the detainees was to exercise their religious freedom beyond the restrictive state regulations.
