Portugal: TV ombudsman receives 1,000 complaints about Communist party interview

PCP says that “editorial options are not at issue” but says that José Rodrigues dos Santos “cannot take advantage of a media space to transform an interview into a reckoning”.

Speaking to the Lusa agency, an ERC source said that, “so far, it has received about half a hundred entries against RTP, regarding the interview that was conducted with the secretary general of the PCP, Paulo Raimundo, on the television news on March 24”.

The Television Ombudsman told Lusa on Wednesday that she had received more than 1,000 complaints about the interview conducted by RTP journalist José Rodrigues dos Santos with the secretary-general of the PCP on Monday. The PCP will file three complaints against RTP, one of which with the Regulatory Authority for Social Communication. The other two will go to the CNE and the Journalist Professional License Committee.
