The Back-to-School Health Checklist Families Shouldn't Skip
Walgreens says families should update vaccines, school health forms and emergency medicines before classes begin, and myWalgreens members can earn rewards on eligible purchases.
On Friday, Samantha Picking, PharmD, senior director of immunizations at Walgreens, released a back-to-school health checklist to help families prepare for the upcoming academic year.
Picking advised scheduling vaccinations early, noting, "Keep in mind that many vaccines take about two weeks to provide protection." Families can book appointments for up to four people in one visit.
"Don't wait until the first day of school," Picking said, advising families to fill out medical forms and restock medicine cabinets with essential sick-day supplies.
For families short on time, Walgreens offers 1-hour delivery and 30-minute pickup services; members can earn up to $45 in Walgreens Cash rewards on eligible in-store purchases.
Transitioning to school routines can be taxing, so experts suggest establishing consistent sleep schedules. "Getting enough sleep and practicing good hygiene are two of the simplest ways," Picking said.
