Nigeria: NCAA Approves Commencement of Enugu Air
ENUGU NORTH, ENUGU, JUL 7 – Enugu Air begins operations with NCAA approval and XEJet partnership, targeting 600,000 passengers annually as part of a $2 billion economic diversification plan.
- On July 7, Minister Festus Keyamo officially launched Enugu Air, a commercial airline owned by Enugu State, to commence its domestic flight services.
- The initiative builds on Governor Peter Mbah’s commitment to generating employment opportunities, boosting the tourism sector, and accelerating operations by collaborating with XEJet for certification and management.
- Enugu Air launched its operations with a fleet of three Embraer aircraft and plans to develop flight routes linking Enugu with major destinations such as Abuja, Lagos, and several other key locations across Nigeria.
- Keyamo emphasized the importance of professional management to prevent bureaucratic challenges, cautioned against allowing Enugu Air to deteriorate like the Nigerian Airways, and promised government support for its growth.
