Entergy Mississippi restored power to over 55,000 customers after the ice storm damaged 234 utility poles and 35 transformers, with crews from 20 states involved in the effort.
- On Monday, Entergy Mississippi said crews are making progress restoring power to more than 55,000 Entergy Mississippi customers after a weekend ice storm.
- Freezing temperatures left heavy ice on lines, and ice accumulation and fallen limbs damaged affected distribution and transmission systems, Entergy said.
- Assessment tallies show 234 downed utility poles, 50 miles of downed wire, 35 damaged transformers, 15 substations still out, 17 returned to service, and approximately 2,660 workers from 20 states staged with camps in Batesville, Cleveland and Greenville and a materials yard in Lexington.
- By Wednesday night, Entergy expects power restored in Central District while Grenada may not recover until Sunday night under the staged Jan. 27–Feb. 1 schedule.
- Rolling Fork, Mississippi, a small, 80% Black town, lacked electricity and water in local storm shelters, and Haley Fisackerly said, `Every tool possible is being used so we can quickly assess and quickly respond`.
