Engineer Dies After Car Plunges Into Construction Pit in Noida

On Thursday , police lodged a fresh FIR against five builders from Lotus Greens Construction Pvt Ltd and MZ Wiztown Planners, naming Abhay Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Manish Kumar, Anchal Bohra and Nirmal Kumar over a waterlogged pit that killed software engineer Yuvraj Mehta.
A patrol on January 20 reported the pit at plot SC-02/A3 was large, dug years ago with heavy machinery, waterlogged, unbarricaded, and worsened by sewage and rainwater-carried garbage.
Family and eyewitness accounts say Yuvraj Mehta pleaded for nearly two hours as fire department, SDRF and NDRF teams recovered his body on Saturday.
The Uttar Pradesh government removed a senior official and ordered an inquiry, while the three-member Special Investigation Team led by ADG Bhanu Bhaskar must submit its report by Saturday amid protests alleging negligence.
The case raises larger questions about urban planning and road safety in Noida, as police records show Lotus Greens Construction Pvt Ltd bought the plot in 2014 and Wiztown acquired it in 2020, with water accumulation issues since 2021.
