- On August 16, 2025, the Enforcement Directorate raided properties linked to DMK MLA Senthil Kumar and Minister Periyasamy in Chennai and Dindigul under PMLA.
- Prompted by an April court order, the ED raids on I. Periyasamy and family follow a Madras High Court directive to frame charges over alleged Rs 2.1 crore disproportionate assets acquired during 2006–10.
- About a dozen ED officials arrived in three teams at around 7.30 a.m. to search premises in Durairaj Nagar, Vallalar Nagar and Seelapadi, secured by armed CRPF and police.
- Soon, political circles in Tamil Nadu were closely watching developments and neither Periyasamy nor the DMK have issued any comment, as local DMK cadres gathered near Greenways Road.
- The Supreme Court stayed the probe in May, and a family appeal is set for hearing on August 18.
