Emmys In Memoriam Segment Snubs Chuck Norris, Nicholas Brendon, and Peter Cullen
Fans criticized the televised tribute after several television figures, including Chuck Norris and Nicholas Brendon, were left out despite longer-than-usual memorial segments.
- On Monday, the Emmy Awards honored television's best, but the official In Memoriam segment omitted several prominent figures while featuring extended tributes to icons like Rob Reiner and Dolly Parton.
- The Academy of Television Arts and Sciences annually struggles to include every industry professional who died over the past year, as broadcast time limits restrict recognition.
- Fans specifically noted the absence of "Walker Texas Ranger" star Chuck Norris, who died at 86, and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" actor Nicholas Brendon, alongside "The Ring" actress Daveigh Chase and "Days of Our Lives" star Patrick Muldoon.
- Brendon's omission proved particularly notable because the broadcast included his "Buffy" co-star Anthony Head, while also recognizing other industry figures, including "Taxi" director James Burrows and CNN founder Ted Turner.
- The ceremony prioritized lengthy tributes for Rob Reiner, Dolly Parton, and Catherine O'Hara, with Jamie Lee Curtis honoring Reiner as a "cherished legend," while Annie Murphy and Dan Levy led the tribute for their "Schitt's Creek" co-star O'Hara.
