Edmonton Elks Beat B.C. Lions 28-16, Will Meet Montreal in Grey Cup
Cody Fajardo passed for 274 yards and rushed for 84 as Edmonton earned its first Grey Cup berth since 2015.
On Saturday, the Edmonton Elks defeated The Lions 28-16 at Commonwealth Stadium, securing a berth in the Grey Cup. Quarterback Cody Fajardo led the team before more than 40,000 fans in the CFL's Western Final.
Edmonton completed a historic turnaround, climbing from last in the West Division in 2025 to first place in 2026. Fajardo powered the offense with 274 passing yards and 84 rushing yards, including a touchdown.
Kicker Vincent Blanchard contributed five field goals, while defensive back J.J. Ross recovered a fumble to help the Elks maintain control. The Lions struggled to establish their ground game, totaling just 39 yards rushing.
The Elks will face the Montreal Alouettes in the Grey Cup on November 15 in Calgary. Montreal earned its championship berth by defeating the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 32-23 earlier Saturday.
This victory marked Edmonton's first playoff game hosted since 2015, ending a significant drought for the franchise. The Elks last met The Lions in the playoffs during the 2011 West Final.
