Elks extend head coach Mark Kilam through 2029 after best season in a decade
Kilam is 20-16 over two seasons and led Edmonton to its first playoff berth since 2019, the team said.
On Wednesday, the Edmonton Elks extended head coach Mark Kilam's contract through the 2029 CFL season after he guided the club to its best regular-season record in more than a decade.
Kilam, hired in December 2024 as the 25th head coach in franchise history, transformed Edmonton from a 7-11 finish in 2025 to a West Division-best 13-5 record this season.
"Mark has done an outstanding job coaching this football team," said Ed Hervey, Elks vice-president of football operations and general manager, crediting his discipline and leadership.
Hosting a playoff game for the first time since 2015, the Elks clinched their first playoff berth since 2019 and will compete in the West Division final on Nov. 7.
Kilam's 8-1 mark at Commonwealth Stadium contributes to the club's best home and regular-season records since the 2015 Grey Cup season, positioning Edmonton for postseason momentum.
