Since January 2024, the president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, declared war on crime.
On the first day of curfew, the Ministry of the Interior recorded the capture of 61 persons in four provinces of the country, where the measure is governed by the declaration of a state of emergency.
With this measure, the security forces are seeking to intensify operations against criminal groups, to which the authorities attribute the unprecedented escalation of violence in the Andean country in recent years.
Ecuador applies a new curfew in four provinces for 15 days to contain organized crime violence
The curfew began on September 17th in Guayas, El Oro, Los Ríos and Manabí. The bill will run from 00:00 to 05:00 until September 30th.
