LATIN AMERICA, AUG 5 – The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean projects moderate growth driven by recovery in key sectors amid global economic uncertainties.
- On Tuesday, the UN's Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean raised its 2025 forecast to 2.2%, up from 2.0% in April.
- Amid persistent challenges, the region continues to struggle with declining tourism, high energy and transport costs and natural disasters, despite the first quarter of the year prompting a slight forecast increase.
- South America is projected to expand 2.7%, while Central America and Mexico are forecast at 1.0%, and Guatemala, Panama, and the Dominican Republic are expected above 3.5%, according to ECLAC.
