East Tennessee O'Charley's Employee 'Devastated' by Abrupt Closure
The chain took its website and social media offline after closing company-owned sites, as remaining franchise restaurants are expected to shut in coming weeks.
- On Wednesday, The Nashville-based chain closed all of its corporate-owned restaurant locations, according to Nation's Restaurant News, while also taking its website offline and discontinuing all social media accounts.
- Cannae Holdings oversaw a prolonged period of contraction beginning around 2016 after the chain reached nearly 250 restaurants; Technomic data show location count fell 11% and revenue declined 19% in 2025.
- One worker in Harrison, Ohio, told Nation's Restaurant News, "There was some sort of board meeting and this decision was not supposed to get leaked." Eight Tennessee locations also shuttered.
- Franchised locations remain open for now but are expected to close in the coming weeks; a site in Niles, Ohio, plans to operate until between Sept. 27 and Oct. 4.
- Other franchised locations, such as one in Chester, Virginia, have no official closing date, and the company declined to comment when contacted regarding the permanent closures.
