Regional Medical Center restores Level 2 Trauma Services under Santa Clara Co. ownership

East San José Hospital Trauma Center Restored on First Day of Public Ownership

A trauma center at Regional Medical Center in East San José that had been downgraded is back in operation on the first day under county ownership.

Starting Tuesday, the East San Jose Regional Medical Center is a public hospital that will be under the tutelage of Santa Clara County. The county finished purchasing the hospital from HCA Healthcare for $150 million, which means that the eastern community of the city will again have a level 2 trauma unit, that is, ability to treat serious injuries, including 24/7 emergency surgeries.
