Fuel prices in the Netherlands have risen again recently. The recommended retail price for a liter of gasoline is now around €2.39, and for diesel around €2.44. Diesel, in particular, has reached record prices. Nevertheless, Prime Minister Rob Jetten sees no reason to reduce fuel taxes. On the television program Nieuwsuur, he stated that the government is monitoring the price increase but does not intend to intervene for the time being.

Prime Minister Rob Jetten is monitoring the rising prices of gasoline and diesel, but sees no reason yet to reduce the excise duties on fuel, he told Nieuwsuur. The new Dutch Prime Minister spoke with the news magazine program over the weekend, before gas prices shot up another 30 percent when markets opened up on Monday morning.
Prime Minister Rob Jetten (D66) sees no reason yet to reduce fuel taxes. On the television program Nieuwsuur, the prime minister said he is keeping an eye on rising gasoline and diesel prices.
