Venezuela Calls US Bounty Increase For Maduro 'Pathetic'
LIBERTADOR, CAPITAL DISTRICT, VENEZUELA, AUG 8 – The US government accuses Maduro of trafficking over 70 tons of cocaine and working with major cartels, offering $50 million for information leading to his arrest, doubling the previous reward.
- On August 7, 2025, US Attorney General Pam Bondi announced that the US Department of Justice and @StateDept doubled the $25 million reward for Nicolás Maduro to $50 million.
- Amid claims of a flawed election, the US said the July 28, 2024 Venezuelan presidential election was fraudulent, citing Maduro’s illegitimate victory, the US government said.
- Amid mounting evidence, the DEA records show 30 tons of cocaine linked to Maduro and associates, and the Department of Justice has seized over $700m in assets, Bondi revealed.
- Meanwhile, Havana condemned the US reward for Maduro as an act of aggression, and Venezuelan Foreign Minister Yvan Gil called it “the most ridiculous smokescreen,”
