Dunamu Teams with Visa to Develop Stablecoin-Based Payments
The companies will study staged services for remittances, merchant settlement and agentic commerce, while no launch date or blockchain has been set.
On Friday, Dunamu, operator of South Korea's largest cryptocurrency exchange Upbit, announced a strategic partnership with Visa to explore stablecoin payments, global remittances and AI-driven financial services.
With at least 16 million crypto users, South Korea represents an attractive market; the partnership combines Dunamu's digital-asset infrastructure with Visa's global payment network.
The collaboration will evaluate Open USD business models and AI-powered payment services for agentic commerce, where AI agents search for products and execute purchases on users' behalf.
Despite the confirmed partnership, services remain exploratory with no selected launch date, blockchain, stablecoin or custody provider; Dunamu said OUSD is one of several stablecoin projects under review.
Regulatory uncertainty in South Korea will shape implementation, as lawmakers and regulators debate won-backed token issuance and bank ownership requirements; the next milestone is a defined pilot or product announcement.
Dunamu, the operator of the digital asset exchange Upbit, is partnering with global payment technology company Visa to explore financial and payment services utilizing stablecoins and artificial intelligence (AI). Dunamu, together with Visa, plans to develop next-generation services based on stablecoins and AI.
