Reports: Ducks Sign Newly Acquired F A.J. Greer to 4-Year Deal
A.J. Greer set career highs with 17 goals and 32 points last season, and the Ducks added his Stanley Cup experience on a $4.25 million average annual value.
On Tuesday, The Anaheim Ducks signed forward A.J. Greer to a four-year, $17 million contract, securing the veteran forward after acquiring exclusive negotiating rights earlier this week.
The Ducks traded defenseman Radko Gudas to the Florida Panthers earlier this week to acquire exclusive negotiating rights to Greer before he would have become an unrestricted free agent on Wednesday.
Greer recorded career highs of 17 goals and 15 assists last season while accumulating 113 penalty minutes, more than any Anaheim player, bringing both offensive versatility and physical toughness.
The contract carries a $4.25 million average annual value and includes a 10-team no-trade clause, leaving General Manager Pat Verbeek more than $40 million in cap space to re-sign Cutter Gauthier and Leo Carlsson.
Entering his 10th NHL season, Greer also serves as a mental health advocate, supporting the Bell Telecommunications "Let's Talk" program in Canada alongside his on-ice contributions to the contender.
