Golden Knights Lived on Their Penalty Kill Before the Ducks Finally Made Them Pay
Anaheim scored twice on the power play and ended Vegas’ 21-game penalty-kill streak in the playoffs.
On Sunday, May 10, the Anaheim Ducks defeated the Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 at Honda Center, evening their second-round NHL playoffs series at two games apiece. The Ducks capitalized on two power-play opportunities to secure the victory.
Vegas committed 3.12 penalties per game during the regular season, and the Golden Knights' penalty kill streak of 21 consecutive successful kills ended Sunday when the Ducks scored two power-play goals.
Goaltender Carter Hart allowed four goals on 23 shots. Beckett Sennecke scored in the first period, while Alex Killorn added a go-ahead goal late in the second to put the Ducks in control.
Vegas forward Brett Howden said, "They obviously have a good power play," while urging discipline on the penalty kill. Defenseman Brayden McNabb added, "We're not going to overthink it."
Game 5 takes place Tuesday in Las Vegas, with the outcome determining which team advances to the Western Conference final. The series momentum now swings back to the Golden Knights' home ice.
