- Less than an hour after being ejected from a nearby party boat, Daniel Hyden was drunk as he drove on Water Street, police officers who responded said.
- Victims included Emily Ruiz, 30; Lucille Pinkney, 59; Herman Pinkney, 38; and Ana Morel, 43; seven injured survivors suffered trauma, with several trapped beneath the truck.
- Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg warned intoxicated drivers will be prosecuted and Judge April Newbauer said Hyden valued human life `slightly, if at all`.
- The community has been left with children left without parents and survivors reporting post-traumatic stress, with the Lower East Side community forever changed by the July 4 rampage.
