Ukraine strikes Saratov Oil Refinery in mass attack on several Russian regions, reports say
Ukraine said Neptune cruise missiles caused fires and explosions at a defense electronics plant that makes components for Russian missile systems.
Ukrainian forces used Neptune cruise missiles to strike the JSC Proton-Elektroteks defense plant in Oryol overnight into Saturday, Nov. 7, while simultaneously targeting the Saratov Oil Refinery.
Following a Friday drone assault on the Afipsky Oil Refinery in Krasnodar Krai, these operations continue a series of strikes against Russian military and industrial infrastructure throughout October and early November.
Manufacturing critical components for Russian Iskander-M ballistic missiles and Kh-71 cruise missiles, the Proton-Elektroteks plant serves as a vital node in Russia's defense production chain, while the Saratov refinery operates as a Rosneft branch.
Regional officials confirmed structural damage and fires at both sites, even as The Russian Ministry of Defense claimed its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 411 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles.
Russia's capacity to assemble and fuel the missiles frequently used against Ukrainian urban centers faces degradation through these strikes on component manufacturing and petroleum processing sites.
