Driver Moves Barrier, Sinks in Wet Concrete on Milwaukee County Interchange
Officials said the driver removed a road closed barrier and drove into freshly poured concrete, prompting a warning to ignore no signs or barriers.
On Friday, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation warned drivers after a motorist physically removed a 'road closed' barrier and drove a truck into freshly poured concrete on a Milwaukee County interchange.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, May 12, at the I-41 and I-894 interchange in West Allis, where the driver's pickup truck became immobilized in the wet cement at National Avenue.
According to the DOT, the driver "did not adhere to signs after physically removing a 'road closed' barrier and proceeding to drive into freshly poured concrete." Officials urged motorists to never ignore such closures.
Crews removed the truck the same day, and the DOT reported that the motorist's actions did not cause any long-term delays to the ongoing construction project in the area.
Officials emphasize that safety measures like barricades protect both drivers and workers; they released highway camera video to remind the public that ignoring such warnings can lead to vehicle damage.
