The Environment Agency issued 87 flood warnings mainly in southern England and the Midlands due to heavy rain and saturated catchments, with 261 flood alerts active, officials said.

  • The Environment Agency issued more than 80 flood warnings as heavy rain arrives, concentrating showers in south and south‑west England, East and West Midlands, and South Wales.
  • Meteorological analysis points to a meandering jet stream and southeasterly airflow steering repeated low‑pressure bands, after an unusually wet January with 50% more rain in south‑west England and South Wales.
  • Authorities reported 261 flood alerts across England and 11 flood alerts from Natural Resources Wales on Friday night and Saturday morning, while the Environment Agency warned River Teme levels near property flooding at 1.71 metres.
  • Emergency services warned of imminent river flooding on the River Dene, residents were told to 'start acting on your flood plan if you have one', and Herefordshire Council closed the A4110 and A4113 at Leintwardine.
  • A Met Office yellow warning comes into force Saturday night with 10–15mm of rain widely and 25–30mm on higher ground, and snowmelt adds to flood risk into next week and next month.
