Dozens of farmers threw hay bales and soil onto the sidewalk at multiple locations during a protest on Monday evening. With their tractors, they targeted the entrance to FrieslandCampina and the—aptly named—De Stier roundabout, among others. After a brief conversation with the police, the farmers left.
About forty tractors with farmers made a tour through Amersfoort on Monday evening, a police spokesperson said. "They drive around and lay down straw bales at certain spots, and then they drive on." Many of the tractors had inverted Dutch flags fluttering, an ANP reporter observed. There was a lot of honking.
Farmers protesting against the cabinet's nitrogen policy took action last night in Amersfoort and Barneveld, among other places. In the latter town, some 70 to 100 tractors were present on Raadhuisplein, as can be seen in the footage. About 40 tractors headed towards the center of Amersfoort.
