Doug Williams and Robert Kraft Are Among 5 Contributor Candidates for the Pro Football Hall of Fame

The Hall narrowed 42 nominees to five, with one finalist to advance for the 2027 class after a virtual vote Nov. 17.

  • On Wednesday, the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced five contributor candidates for the Class of 2027: New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft, Doug Williams, Virginia McCaskey, John Wooten, and Ralph Hay.
  • The Hall's contributor subcommittee selected these finalists from an original field of 42 nominees, following category changes this year allowing consideration of player and coaching careers alongside off-field contributions.
  • Candidates include Kraft, whose teams won six Super Bowls, and Williams, the first Black quarterback to start and win a Super Bowl, joined by the late McCaskey, longtime executive Wooten, and former Canton Bulldogs owner Hay.
  • A Hall subcommittee will meet virtually on Nov. 17 to select one candidate to present to the full selection committee, which determines the 2027 enshrinees shortly before Super Bowl LXI in mid-February.
  • Final lists will include one contributor, one coach, and 13 players, with the 25-person selection committee requiring 80% support to elect between three and seven new Hall of Famers each year.
