Dorothy A. Burkhart, age 96, of Brookville, Indiana died Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville, Indiana. Born February 1, 1930, in Brookville, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Robert P. & Pauline Rose (Reuter) Burkhart.   She was a graduate of the Oldenburg Academy in Oldenburg, Indiana. She was retired having worked for many years at Public Service Indiana and its successor Duke Energy. She was a lifelong member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Brookville.  And an associate of the Sisters of St. Francis at Oldenburg. Over the years Dorothy had enjoyed the Performing Arts: music, theater, and film.  She loved to paint beautiful pictures with her oil paints.  She also enjoyed playing golf, reading, and watching the birds from her kitchen window. Survivors include four sisters, Sr.

Dorothy A. Burkhart, age 96, of Brookville, Indiana died Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville, Indiana. Survivors include four sisters, Sr. Andre (Patricia) Burkhart OSF of Oldenburg, Indiana, Mary Strohmier of Brookville, Indiana, Linda Grocox of Rushville, Indiana, Deborah Pierce of Cincinnati, Ohio; two brothers, Charles Burkhart of Indianapolis, Indiana and John (Gerardine) Burkhart of Brookville, Indiana. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Allen, three brothers, Harold Burkhart, William ‘Bill’ Burkhart and Donald E. Burkhart. Rev. Santhosh Yohannan will officiate the Funeral Mass on Thursday, June 11, 2026, 11:00 A.M., at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 145 E. St. Michaels Blvd., Brookville.  Burial will then follow in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery in Brookville. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
