Donte’s Den: Why Wolves’ guard could be Minnesota’s voice of reason
DiVincenzo is helping steady a young Timberwolves locker room while he recovers from a ruptured right Achilles, teammates and coaches said.
Minnesota Timberwolves guard Donte DiVincenzo, 29, has emerged as a locker-room bridge while recovering from a ruptured Achilles suffered during the playoffs in April.
DiVincenzo considers himself an "old soul," and because he is not currently competing for minutes, he offers teammates a neutral, non-competitive outlet to vent frustrations about playing time and contracts.
Serving as a bridge between players and coaches, DiVincenzo has grown close to Jaden McDaniels and Anthony Edwards. "I'd rather you talk to me, get it off your chest," DiVincenzo said.
These relationships allow DiVincenzo to communicate freely with teammates. "And as you develop that trust, when youre able to say whatever, it just makes everything easier," DiVincenzo said.
With fresh faces like LaMelo Ball on the roster, the Timberwolves rely on these bonds to maintain stability throughout an 82-game NBA campaign, though DiVincenzo acknowledged opinions may clash.
