Knicks Waive Veteran G Bruce Brown
Bruce Brown will enter free agency after the Knicks kept James Wiseman to preserve roster flexibility and avoid the second apron, ESPN reported.
On Saturday, the New York Knicks waived veteran guard Bruce Brown, retaining center James Wiseman to finalize their Opening Night roster as defending champions.
New York managed salary constraints to avoid the second apron, forcing a choice between Brown and Wiseman; Wiseman secured the spot after Eubanks and Bradley were waived Thursday.
Wiseman, 25, averaged 8.0 points and 4.3 rebounds during preseason while shooting 81.3 percent from the field, and has familiarity with Knicks head coach Mike Brown from the Golden State Warriors.
SNY's Ian Begley reported there was "strong support" within the Knicks "to add Brown as well" as Wiseman, but the front office could not finalize a trade to create roster flexibility.
The defending champion New York Knicks begin their 2026 season on Tuesday against Philadelphia, while Brown enters the free-agent market seeking opportunities with other teams.
