(RNS) — Rarely a day passes without a “Left Behind” joke being fired in my direction. I wrote the series with minister Tim LaHaye – apocalyptic novels based on the Bible’s teaching about the End Times, where millions suddenly vanish and those left must confront eternity. More than 30 years on, the books have sold over 63 million copies, and still sell thousands every month.  These days, though, I’m hearing that phrase in a very different context…
