Dog walker killer also guilty of attempted murder
A jury also found the 28-year-old guilty of trying to kill his landlord after a random attack that left one man dead and a teenager injured.
- On Thursday, a jury at Southwark Crown Court found Dawood Safi, 28, guilty of attempting to murder his landlord, Shahzad Farrukh, though jurors continue deliberating on a second attempted murder charge involving a 14-year-old boy.
- Safi previously pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of 49-year-old Wayne Broadhurst, whom he fatally stabbed in a "vicious and ferocious" rampage at Midhurst Gardens in Uxbridge on October 27, 2025.
- Prosecutor Jonathan Laidlaw KC noted that Safi suffered from "depressive psychosis" and was "hearing voices," having sought help at Hillingdon Hospital and Hayes Police Station three days before the attacks.
- Believing Farrukh would assist him due to police connections, Safi launched the knife attack, stabbing Broadhurst 14 times while appearing "like he was possessed" to witness Daniella Jarvis.
- Having lied about his age when arriving in the UK in 2020, Safi has appeared for his trial by video-link from Broadmoor secure hospital, where he remains held.
