Negeri Sembilan MB Instructs State Secretary to Gazette Tuanku Muhriz’s Removal Despite DKU Objection
- On Tuesday, The Dewan Keadilan accused the Negri Sembilan state executive council of treason and attempting to overthrow Pertuan Besar Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir through a recent media statement.
- Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim signed an August 3 proclamation removing Tuanku Muhriz, claiming he was forced. The state exco asserts Tuanku Nadzaruddin Tuanku was selected by the Undang Yang Empat.
- Solicitors acting for the DKU described the announcement as "null and void and of no legal effect," alleging conduct "tantamount to a coup d'etat and an act of treason" punishable under the Penal Code.
- In a letter dated Sept, the DKU argued the proclamation violated Article 10 of the Undang-Undang Tubuh Kerajaan Negeri Sembilan, which mandates a thorough enquiry before removing a ruler.
- Raja Norazli Raja Nordin and the DKU maintain the exco's conduct aims to "subvert the executive authority of Tuanku Muhriz," a dispute now before the Seremban High Court Originating Summons.
