- Imposed under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, the restriction addresses noise pollution and safety risks as equipment violates Environment Protection Act limits and beam lights endanger public health.
- Nagpur Deputy Commissioner of Police Rahul Madane clarified the ban excludes non-violating sound systems operating within police-set norms, while authorities will take immediate action against those who violate regulations.
- The Bharatiya Janata Party and VHP expressed opposition, alleging the restrictions unfairly target Hindu festivals; VHP Nagpur Metropolitan Minister Amol Thackeray and BJP corporator Subodh Acharya questioned why the ban applies only during Ganeshotsav.
