The obligation to pay the broadcasting fee is not contrary to the Constitution. This was decided by the Verwaltungsgerichtshof Baden-Württemberg in Mannheim. The plaintiffs were of the opinion that the public broadcasting reports unilaterally "in favour of left parties and progressive positions." Therefore, they wanted to let the court determine that the obligation to pay the fee violates the Constitution.
The broadcasting fee is constitutional, which was decided by the Administrative Court of Baden-Württemberg. A lawsuit against an allegedly too left-wing report of the SWR was dismissed.
