Dismal student test scores deserve boos, not cheers

Re “County students improve on test scores” (Oct. 10): If it is an improvement to have only six out of 20 categories barely above 50% proficiency, I certainly would not be celebrating! But with graduation rates above 80%, some powerful learning must have taken place somewhere along the line in the meantime. Unless, of course, the graduation criteria are not aligned with the statewide standards. Just pat ’em on the back and get ’em out. Woo-hoo! …
