The European Commission has approved the support scheme proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture for the partial compensation of the additional costs incurred by pig farmers during the period from 1 March to 31 December 2026. Farmers will be able to receive EUR 11.9 for each place of accommodation for pigs for fattening and EUR 13.7 for places for breeding animals, up to EUR 50,000 for each undertaking.
The pig farmers in Romania affected by the increase in production costs will be able to benefit from a total state aid scheme of 11 million euros, equivalent to about 59 million lei. The European Commission approved the measure proposed by Romania on Thursday, and each eligible company will be able to receive no more than 50,000 euros.
