Teacher Denied Bond in Devil's Den Park Double Homicide

DEVIL'S DEN, ARKANSAS, AUG 2 – James Andrew McGann, a 28-year-old former teacher with licenses in three states, admitted to stabbing the couple during a random attack while their young daughters escaped unharmed.

  • On July 26, 2025, Andrew James McGann allegedly fatally stabbed Clinton David Brink and Cristen Amanda Brink while they were hiking at Devil’s Den State Park with their daughters, ages 7 and 9, before his arrest on July 30 in Springdale.
  • During the spring of 2023, McGann was placed on administrative leave while employed at Donald Elementary School in Flower Mound, Texas, following concerns about classroom management and judgment.
  • Following his arrest, DNA from McGann was found at the crime scene and items seized from his 3801 Pinecrest Street residence linked him to the killings.
  • Recently, McGann was ordered held without bond at the Washington County Detention Center and has not yet entered a plea.
  • District officials said they will fully cooperate with law enforcement following the arrest, confirming McGann passed all required background checks before hire.
