Dettifoss, an Eimskip cargo ship that lost its engine at sea on Wednesday, arrived in Reykjavík harbor this afternoon after being towed ashore by the patrol ship Freyja.
The patrol ship Freyja, which has the cargo ship Dettifoss in tow, was west of Garðskagi at midday and is expected to arrive at Engey at around 18:00 this evening. There, tugboats from Faxaflóahafn will take over the towing and tow Dettifoss to the dock. This is stated in a statement from the Icelandic Coast Guard.
