Democrats demand to know where Venezuelan oil revenue is going
The lawmakers seek records on $13 billion in oil revenue and say the administration has not explained Betancourt’s role in the partnership.

- Lawmakers expressed concern that Betancourt, who has faced money-laundering probes in three countries, "is being treated as a business partner instead of the subject of a law enforcement investigation," Meeks said.
- Democrats requested relevant documents by 1 October, noting the deal covers 17 oil fields with estimated reserves of 65 billion barrels.
- Rubio testified in June that oil funds are held in a blocked Treasury account at Citibank, audited by KPMG, and used to support Venezuela's interim government.
