Delta Places Order with Boeing for up to 60 787 Dreamliners

Delta's order of 30 Boeing 787-10 jets with options doubles its potential widebody fleet renewal, supporting international growth and improving fuel efficiency by 25%, Boeing said.

  • On Jan. 13, 2026, Delta Air Lines placed a firm order for 30 Boeing 787-10 jets with options for 30 more, bringing Delta's Boeing order book to 130 airplanes.
  • To modernize and replace older jets, Delta said Ed Bastian, `Delta is building the fleet for the future, enhancing the customer experience, driving operational improvements and providing steady replacements for less efficient, older aircraft in the decade to come.`
  • The 787-10 offers capacity up to 336 passengers and 25% lower fuel use than replaced aircraft, with the largest windows and lower cabin altitude enhancing passenger comfort.
  • Deliveries will begin in 2031, and Delta Air Lines said the order will increase network capacity and support U.S. aerospace manufacturing jobs across Boeing's production system and supply chain.
  • Market observers note that, on Tuesday, Boeing's momentum continued as Delta projected 2026 EPS of $6.50 to $7.50 and free cash flow of $3 billion to $4 billion.
