Two Arrested for Planning Terror Attacks in Delhi-NCR; Recruited by ISI Proxy Shahzad Bhatti
Police said the arrests foiled planned grenade and firing attacks and recovered a pistol, 15 to 20 rounds and incriminating phones.
On Tuesday, Delhi Police's Special Cell arrested two operatives, Rajveer and Vivek Banjara , for allegedly plotting terror-style shootings and grenade attacks across the Delhi-NCR region at the behest of Pakistan-based handler Shahzad Bhatti.
Handlers remotely control the module by scanning social media profiles to recruit young men, luring them with monetary incentives; on April 9, the duo traveled to Amritsar and received a pistol, around 20 cartridges, and Rs 20,000 in cash.
Investigators seized a pistol, six live cartridges, and mobile phones containing incriminating evidence, following Rajveer's failed attempt to execute a shooting at a Zirakpur club earlier this month due to weapon malfunction.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Praveen Kumar Tripathi stated the arrests "foiled planned attacks" and exposed a larger conspiracy involving ISI-linked handlers recruiting young people through social media for targeted violence in Delhi-NCR.
Bhatti, suspected to be operating from Dubai, has a documented history of orchestrating grenade attacks and making threats; in November 2024, he allegedly threatened Bollywood actor Mithun Chakraborty over purported social media comments.
