Joey Porter Jr. Felt "Disrespected" and "Underappreciated" by Steelers
Dallas takes Porter on his rookie deal after Pittsburgh failed to reach an extension, and he could be available against Houston on Sunday.
On Wednesday, the Pittsburgh Steelers traded cornerback Joey Porter Jr. to the Dallas Cowboys for a 2028 second-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick, ending his three-season tenure in Pittsburgh.
The trade followed months of failed contract extension negotiations, as the Steelers maintained a strict policy against in-season talks, creating a significant disconnect between the organization and Porter.
Speaking with reporters on Thursday, Porter admitted he felt "disrespected and undervalued" by Pittsburgh, describing the situation as "a hard process, a lot of ups and downs."
Porter may debut for the Cowboys as early as Sunday against the Houston Texans, with ESPN's Adam Schefter reporting there is "a chance" he will be available.
Currently in the final year of his rookie contract with a $3.052 million base salary, Porter joins a Dallas defense allowing 27.3 points per game through three games.
