Defence Minister Rajnath Singh lays foundation for 5 expansion projects of GRSE, Yantra India
- On Sunday, Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh virtually laid the foundation stone for five brownfield expansion projects of Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers and Yantra India Ltd. in Kolkata.
- Representing an investment of nearly ₹3,500 crore, the projects comprise three Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers facilities and two of Yantra India Ltd. in West Bengal.
- GRSE signed lease agreements with the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port for two shipyards on the Hooghly and a 32-acre riverside property at Raichak to enhance warship construction capabilities.
- Employment generation and opportunities for ancillary industries, particularly MSMEs, are expected to support the revival of West Bengal's industrial ecosystem through these expansion initiatives.
- Accompanied by West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, Singh stated that new projects are replacing factory closures, representing a "new renaissance of development" for the state.
