(AFP) Costa Rican authorities dismantled on Tuesday a powerful group of drug traffickers who sent drugs to the United States and Europe, considered the "biggest" local cartel in the country's history, official sources reported.
Costa Rica announced the dismantling of a drug trafficking cartel, for which it carried out 64 raids.
The National Civil Police (PNC), through the General Sub-Dirección de Análisis de Información Antinarcotica (SGAIA), seized 292 packages that allegedly contained cocaine during an inspection in Puerto Quetzal. The finding occurred inside a container reviewed during a routine procedure. According to the first investigations, the cargo came from Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica and had as its final destination Guatemala.
