The location of debris from the lost ship Santa Maria Dominique II on a coast in northern Spain plunges the fishing community of Audierne into deep sadness and a modest expectation of answers.
From the port of Audierne (Finistry) with a person on board, the lineer "Santa Maria Dominique II" has not been found since.
At about 4.30 a.m., on the night of 2 to 3 May, the Spanish Maritime Rescue Coordination Center received the signal of a beacon of the Santa Maria Dominique II. The vessel had left the port of Audierne on 29 April and had not returned. Important search facilities had been deployed. Spanish rescues dispatched two helicopters to the area. Debris of the vessel were seen. Search operations continued.
Last Wednesday, April 29, the experienced French fisherman Erwan Gléveeau left his home in Audierne, in the French Finisterre, to fish the octopus. His family gave the alarm voice when he did not return to port and began an intense search in the Gaul country. His boat, Santa Maria Dominic II, appeared this Sunday on the coast of El Franco without any trace of his employer and only crew member, 43 years old.
