Killing of gay man to be investigated as homophobic crime following protests
Police investigating the murder of a young gay man in the eastern French city of Metz have said the case will now be treated as a homophobic crime, after protestations from rights groups and politicians.
The Metz Public Prosecutor's Office returned on Thursday, 11 June, on its first decision by opening the investigation of the murder of Noahm on the homophobic track.
After the death of the young man in early June, the prosecutor's office had first considered that the first elements did not allow to say that the assault had been committed because of sexual orientation. The prosecutor decided this Thursday to expand the investigation.
The Metz Public Prosecutor's Office has announced the opening of an investigation into intentional homicide committed on the basis of the victim's sexual orientation, after the death of a 19-year-old young man at the end of May.
