- Janet Mary Courant, 85, a resident of Greene, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026, at Clover Manor in Auburn.
- Born December 8, 1940, to Clarence and Eleanor Cole, she married John A. Courant on August 17, 1963, in Rockport, Massachusetts.
- A Colby College graduate and lifelong Phi Beta Kappa member, Janet taught French and English in Massachusetts and at Greene Central School before working as a childcare provider.
- She is survived by her husband, John, two sons, four grandchildren, and her brother, John Cole, having been predeceased by brother David and sister Mary Lou Cole.
- A graveside service will be held August 12, 2026, at 1 p.m. at Valley Cemetery on Route 202 in Greene; arrangements by Bragdon-Finley Funeral Home at 707 Main Street, with contributions suggested for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
