Davina McCall Had "Advanced Alzheimer's" Symptoms Following Brain Tumour Operation in "Hardest Year"
McCall said she could not remember basic details after surgery and described music as helping her recover.
TV presenter Davina McCall revealed on the Mad Sad Bad Podcast that surgery to remove a benign brain tumor caused significant memory loss, leaving her with advanced Alzheimer's-like symptoms during recovery.
Doctors removed a 14mm benign colloid cyst from McCall's brain last year; she initially did not recall the operation, making 2025 the "hardest year" for her and partner Michael Douglas.
Memory issues prevented McCall from watching films or reading books for six months, as she struggled to remember events from 15 minutes prior and repeatedly forgot when Douglas visited her.
Music acted as "mind physio" to help heal McCall's memory; last October she woke realizing, "Oh my God, I remember what I did yesterday," marking her first breakthrough in recovery.
Following her brain surgery, McCall faced a separate breast cancer diagnosis but received the "all clear" in April this year and has returned to work on her podcast.
