The Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK) has decided to impose an administrative fine of 1 million Turkish lira on a globally operating company for failing to report a data breach in its system in a timely manner and for failing to fulfill its obligations regarding data security.
Due to a data breach at a globally operating company, identity, passport, address, IBAN, phone number and blood type information of employees, customers and suppliers were encrypted. The Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK) imposed a total administrative fine of 1 million Turkish Lira on the company for the late notification of the data breach and failure to take precautions.
