Mizutani: Now, It’s on Bill Guerin to Get the Wild over the Hump
Guerin said Minnesota is in a Stanley Cup window and will pursue upgrades if they make the roster better.
On Monday at Grand Casino Arena, Wild General Manager Bill Guerin told reporters he remains dissatisfied despite recent success, stating, "Our goal is to win the Stanley Cup."
Following a heartbreaking loss to the Avalanche, the Wild must ensure their recent breakthrough was not a flash in the pan, addressing consistency issues plaguing the franchise for more than 25 years.
Guerin aims to avoid opening the competitive window only 3/4 of the way, emphasizing that if an opportunity arises to improve the roster, the organization will act decisively.
Nothing is off limits for Guerin, who may pursue stars like Auston Matthews, Robert Thomas, or Jack Hughes, though acquiring a top center likely requires trading Jesper Wallstedt as centerpiece.
Facing stiff competition from the Avalanche, who feature Nathan MacKinnon, Brock Nelson, and Nazem Kadri, Guerin remains undeterred, saying, "There's always a deal to be made.
