On the occasion of Sawan Shivratri, temples are witnessing massive crowds of devotees. So far, during this year's Kanwar Yatra, 44.3 million pilgrims have returned from Haridwar carrying Ganga water. The largest crowd is being seen at the Daksheshwar Mahadev Temple, Mahadev's in-laws' home.

On the second Monday of Sawan, a group of Kanwar pilgrims departed from Mundara village in Niwari district to the Ramraja Sarkar Temple in Orchha, performing Dandavat (prostrations) and filling trees.
